TUFFY
Tuffy is a 27 year old male Yellow-nape. He can be super snuggly when he has you alone, but like most amazons there is the occasional oops bite. He becomes aggressive when he is around other birds so he will need to be in a single bird home. Tuffy is very territorial of his cage.

PONGO
Pongo is a male blue-front of unknown age, it’s likely he is on the older side though. His partner Nemo needed daily medications and handling, so ended up separated. They have both adapted very well to being apart and they seem to want to stay separated long term.
Pongo is not tame, will step on a stick. He lived in an outside aviary for most of the year in his previous home and really thrives when he has lots of room to climb and fly. He's a fairly laid back bird who doesn't really have much interest in being tame with people. He enjoys being in a home with other birds, though.

PICKLES
Pickles is a 31 year old male Blue-Front Amazon. He was adopted in 2018 after only a week of being here because he was not doing well at the rescue. He came from an awful home originally and was never treated right, which meant Pickles became extremely neurotic. He doesn’t like new toys, perches, and is picky about his food. He has a few things that we know he does well with, but change in general is tough for him. He’s never really been handleable though he likes other birds and learned to eat new foods by watching them. Pickles would be fine for most homes with the understanding that he will only be touched on his terms and his environment will need to remain very stable. He enjoys a scratch on his head, likes to talk, LOVES a warm bath, and will be a great low maintenance companion for other birds.

TYSON
Tyson is an older male red-lored amazon. We don’t have much history on him, only that he was purchased in 2021 at an auction in Missouri as an “old breeding pair” with his partner, Pearl. We don’t know his age and he is not particularly tame. Pearl and Tyson were a very very bonded pair who loved to preen each other. Sadly, at her advanced age, Pearl passed away here suddenly and left Tyson. He likes to talk, whistle, and sing when he’s feeling cheerful but it may be a while until he is able to accept another bird or person. Parrot grief is complex and may take months or years to recover from.
Tyson and Pearl didn’t mind other birds, and I imagine with time Tyson will accept another friend. He likely won’t end up being “handleable”, though he will step on a stick on occasion. He can be very noisy when irritated. Tyson is just looking for someone to love him for however long he has left. He’s a great bird and wants to show someone that, and has never really had a chance to get the attention he should have all these years. Tyson needs a second chance.

NEMO
Nemo is a male Southern Mealy of unknown age though it’s likely he is on the older side. Nemo has been in MANY homes in his life and really deserves a final place to live out his days in happiness. He and Pongo came in cage mates but are currently in separate cages since Nemo needed daily medications and handling. They have both adapted very well to being apart and they seem to want to stay separated long term. Nemo will step on a stick and get pets when he feels like it. So far he has been stepping onto our hands quite nicely, as long as you're not trying to pull him away from something he really wants. He used to live in an outside aviary for most of the year in his previous home. One thing to note is that he can be incredibly noisy. If something busy happens, he tends to start whining. Nemo totally loves baths, though, and that can calm him down some.

HERKIE
Hercules is a 35 year old male Orange wing. He isn’t interested in being held on a hand, but will step onto a stick. He would rather sit aside and listen to you sing/talk. In a single bird home, he may open up a bit more. He has some vision loss (blind in his left eye, decreasing in the right), as well as a minor occasional skin irritation on his rump. He has arthritis, so rope perches are best for him. Herkie may look like an old man, but he’s got some real spunk in his step at times. He can be kind of noisy and is super quirky, often enjoying standing upright against his cage like a human.

BABY
Baby is a 14 year old male Yellow-nape Amazon. We are still evaluating him, but he is typically extremely scared at first meeting and doesn't adapt to new situations well. Over time he’s become much more friendly, enjoys talking and having his head scratched a bit. When he was a baby, something spooked him and he became skittish after that point. He doesn't seem to care about other birds much but we think being around others would be good for him for his confidence. He really just needs a quiet home with someone dedicated to bringing him out of his shell.

MADISON
Madison is a Yellow-nape Amazon of unknown age, but over 15. So far, they like to sing, talk, and be looked at. They used to come out of the cage a lot for the previous owner, but absolutely hated her husband. Madison could dislike all men, but we will have to give them some time to settle in to see their true personality and preferences. So far though, Madison is great with Mike and likes to go riding around on a shoulder. They have some minor liver concerns on bloodwork so will undergo treatment and be rechecked in a month for progress.

PASCAL
This beautiful petite (640g) Mealy Amazon was an imported bird, probably wildcaught. For an WC bird he is totally darling… really likes women and Enjoys a scratch on the head. He will step up for women pretty readily but is cautious about men. Pascal also came from the It Takes a Village transfer, the last of 7 and like the others, he shows evidence of chronic respiratory distress but will likely be fine with clean air in the future. He does have some plucking on his neck, back, and rump. This could improve now that he is no longer living in a stressful and neglectful home. He likes to go on mischievous adventures, so needs to be supervised around other birds.

SPROUT
Sprout is a 16 year old female Yellow-nape Amazon. She's still getting used to the ins and outs of daily life here at the rescue. So far, she's skittish but coming around to us. She can step up to people she decides she trusts, which seems to be women over men. She can be rowdy around other female Amazons but doesn't give the boys the time of day. She accepts pets on her own terms, but it'll take a while for her to be okay with that. Overall she seems to be a pretty well adjusted bird who will be a fun companion.

BOGEY
Bogie is a 23 year old male Double Yellowhead. He hates all women, and likes some men. Other people work him up, but when he is alone he likes to spend time “cuddling” with his favorite man. He is placed in this category because, despite occasionally enjoying pets, he is still a very advanced bird to handle.
-
ELVIS
Elvis is a male blue-front of unknown age (based on physical changes, he's almost certainly over 50). He is a wildcaught bird as well, and is handicapped. He has severe arthritis in his feet from improper caging in his previous homes and as a result will require a handicapped accessible cage with platforms and soft rope perches. Elvis is a special bird, because he survived two major parrot rescue collapses/neglect seizures. He’s here for a reason and we want someone really committed to giving this old man a safe home. Elvis is adorable, quiet, and easy to work around despite being untame.

PAPA
Papa is a male Blue front, at least 30 years old. He is wildcaught and wants to stay wild. He talks to the other amazons, but would prefer to be left alone and be a look-don’t-touch bird.
